BBC News at Six viewers have praised George Alagiah (pictured with his wife Frances, left) as he presented the show just hours after revealing his bowel cancer
had returned. The 62-year-old was ‘dignified as always’ when he read the news this evening (right) and remained professional throughout the 30-minute slot. This
morning, he let his 29,000 Twitter followers that his bowel cancer had returned for a second time (inset) but did not mention it live on air. His professionalism was noted
by fans who took to social media to praise his dedication and calmness. The father-of-two, who has been the face of the BBC’s News at Six since 2007, will continue to
present the programme despite the recurrence.
