Ms Perry, the Climate Change Minister, was promoted as part of Theresa May’s chaotic reshuffle, with her current role upgraded so that she will attend Cabinet meetings.
Downing Street confirmed Ms Perry will attend Cabinet as Minister of State at the Department for Business, Energy and Industrial Strategy.
However, her presence may irk her Brexiteer colleagues in Mrs May’s new look Cabinet, after she used the Article 50 Bill debate in the Commons to say they’d been “acting like jihadis”.
Ms Perry complained about “hysterical” rhetoric surrounding Brexit, before comparing Leave backers to Islamic fundamentalists.
Speaking in February 2017, Ms Perry told MPs: “I have to say that the tone of this debate – and we have heard a little bit, although it is starting to calm down – sometimes border on the hysterical.
“I feel like sometimes I am sitting along with colleagues who are like jihadis in their support for a hard Brexit.”
