Police will be on alert this weekend when a march is staged by Britain First.
The far right group will be staging the demonstration in Waterloo Road, Burslem, tomorrow.
It is understood an anti-fascist group will be holding a counter protest at the same time.
Now officers have confirmed they are aware of both planned events and will be keeping a close eye.In promotional material being shared by Britain First, the protest is described as a ‘rally against grooming’.
Chief Inspector John Owen, local policing team commander for Stoke-on-Trent North, said: “Chief Inspector John Owen, local policing team commander for Stoke North, said: “We are aware of the protest planned by the Stoke-on-Trent Infidels and Britain First and we are liaising with the organisers to make it runs as smoothly and peacefully as possible.
“We have officers on the ground throughout the weekend and we will respond accordingly to any unlawful or inciting behaviour.
“We ask anyone who is planning to attend the protest to do so peacefully and with respect to the wider community.”
