British ‘Jihadi bride’ Sally Jones has been killed in a US drone strike, according to reports.
Former punk musician Jones, who was born in Kent, fled to Syria in 2013 with her husband and son to join ISIS, becoming one of the most wanted women in the world.
US spy chiefs have told The Sun that Jones was killed by a drone close to the border between Syria and Iraq in June.
A source told the newspaper: “The Americans zapped her trying to get away from Raqqa. Quite frankly, it’s good riddance.”
Although no attempt was made to recover her DNA from the site of the drone strike, US intelligence chiefs are confident she is dead, say reports.
It is not clear whether her 12-year-old son Jojo – who has featured in the terror group’s propaganda videos – was also killed in the strike.
Officials told the newspaper the strike would have been called off if it was known he was close to his mother.
The US Air Force Predator drone was said to have been flown remotely by a pilot based at Creech Air Force Base in Nevada during the operation.
The government has declined to comment on Jones’ reported death, with a Foreign & Commonwealth Office spokeswoman stating: “We do not comment on matters of national security.”
