An explosive device was discovered hidden in a mobile phone’s plastic case at the airport’s security check-point.
The terror alert took place at Mangalore Airport in India earlier today.
Photos shared on social media show an explosive device squeezed into a mobile phone case.
The photo shows red and yellow electrical wires attached to a small silver object similar to a battery pack.
A brown putty-like material is shown in the picture keeping the items in place.
A man has been arrested as he prepared to fly from Mangalore to Dubai.
Police have determined the man’s identity but links to any terror group have not yet been confirmed.
Local press said the attempt was to “conduct a dry run” of a terror attack.
They said after that the attacker could have carried out a “far more diabolical” operation.
Analysis has shown it was not a viable explosive but likely a mock bomb used as part of a practice run.
